Crochet Baby Gifts
I haven't been a total lazy bum. If feels like I haven't posted in forever. I've been doing lots of crochet. It seems like when ever I find a new hobby I work it to death and them I'm tired of it.
There has been a small baby boom at my school lately. I guess there was something in the water. Ha ha! Well I found some cute ides in blog land. This is what I came up with.
This is a little purse or bag. It's just right for a little girl. It's real easy and fast to make. I found the idea on this wonderful blog called Dutch Girl Diary. Erin made theses for her daughter. You need to check her blog here for directions. I can make one in an evening while I watch TV. Remember I just started crocheting little over a month ago.
I saw this cute idea of making home made wash cloths. The yarn is 100% cotton and very soft. Aren't they cute. I thought it was a great gift for a new baby. I put the wash cloths inside the bag and cinched it together. I added a cute little poem I found and used some pretty scrapbook paper.
What a cute bag if I say so myself. Ha ha! Thanks for stopping by. Missed ya! I'm linking to: Skip To My Lou

Fort Macon
A few weeks ago I was able to take a fun day trip. After living in the area for several years I finally visited Fort Macon. Fort Macon is located at the very tip of a stretch barrier islands in North Carolina. It's across the inland waterway from Morehead City and Beaufort. (Here in North Carolina it's pronounced, b o w fert.)
Building on the fort began after 1912 to defend the ports of Beaufort and Morehead City. It first became occupied in 1834. Shortly after that the Confederate Army took control. Then on 1862 The Union Army regained control back. At on time it served as a federal prison. In 1923 the federal government sold it to the state of North Carolina.
When you drive into the park you can't seed the fort because it is covered mostly by dirt. It's really very pretty. There are lots of old live oaks and well manicured lawns.
This is the entrance into the fort. You walk down a slight slope. This wooden bridge is like crossing a mote.
This is a little something I found interesting. I have been to several forts around here and including Virginia. I never really gave much thought to a cannon ball. I just know I wouldn't want one coming my way.
This was a furnace. The men would drop the cannon balls in through the top and then they would come out red hot! Isn't the crazy! It would be one thing for your ship to get hit by a cannon ball but one that was red hot! I assume it would catch your ship on fire.
How about picking one up!
Great day trip! Next time I go for a visit I will bring a picnic. A blanket on the beach and sandwiches sounds sooooo good!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a great week.

Munch a bunch of bird nest!
I wanted to share a really yummy and easy recipe with you all. Ya know I have looked all over blog land and there are some good recipes to try out. However I must say, I still think that this is the best. Well I should say this is my favorite. They go together lickety split.
Don't they look yummy!
Combine in a bowl:
3 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup shredded coconut
Mix and bring just to a boil while stirring:
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Remove from heat. Stir in the cereal and coconut. Let it cool, then shape into nest using your fingers.
Fill with jell beans. This should make about 12 or so. You don't want them to big.
That's is! I told you it was easy.
I bags a few and tied with twine for some friends.
I first made this for my oldest son's class when he was in pre-school.
That was twenty years ago. (Oops! I'm really not that old.)
All my kids still like it. I made some last weekend and they were gone in two days!
I hope you enjoy the treat!
Thanks for stopping by!

This will eventually will be a blanket. Not sure how many I need all together. I will just play it by ear and see how big I want it to be. Doesn't it look springy and happy. It's chasing the winter blues away!

Granny Squares!
Well once again I have been searching the web. So...my newest love is Crochet! I crocheted about 20 years ago.( OMG! Did I say that?) My mom taught me how to make afghans. So at that time I made several for my friends. That was about all I learned. My mom has made some beautiful things over the years. My favorites are her crochet doilies. Well, this started around Valentines day when I saw these cute crochet hearts. And the rest is history.
So now I'm hooked on granny squares! There are so many.
Check out some of these cool sites:
Theses people are super talented! There's tons of beauty and inspiration!
Don't you just love some of the colors!
I will take some pics of some of my starter pieces.
Yea! This is so much fun.
Oh and another thing... I"m starting a class or group of fellow crocheters. Ha ha! Can you believe it. I sent out an e-mail and got 5 responses within the first hour. I'll let ya all know how it goes.
Have a great day.
Thanks for stopping by.

Spring Trees
I have been seeing several cute egg trees lately. In the past I always put up seasonal decorations but in past few years I've gotten out of the habit. Well I thought this would be a cute idea for my kidos at school. I think we might ever have an egg coloring contest. Anyway...this weekend I snipped some twigs from tree in my back yard. You should have seen me. I was in my cut off sweet pants that have paint all over them and a shirt that was just scary! Well naturally when you look
your worst is when I get to see my neighbors. I can go for weeks and not see a single neighbor. But the day I look like crap, well you know....
I sprayed the branches with grey paint. (It was the only spray paint I had except black.)
Then I found my Easter stash of plastic eggs. I thought I would be doing this myself but my daughter jumped right in. She loves to help mom decorate.

I think It's kinda cute.

Now I need to make another one to take to school. Not sure what container I will use. Don't want it to get knocked over and broken and with twenty two kids that could happen.
Last but not least... My pink dogwood is blooning!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Day dream'n of bedrooms.
Now that my stairs are getting close to being finished my mind is off thinking of another project. Isn't is bedroom lovely. That should be me in that picture! (I guess I should have cropper that photo out.) I don't even like four poster beds that much but the over all room just speaks to me. Saying: "Hey Peggy, you want me!"

How about that grass cloth on the walls and the bed skirt! Love that bed skirt. I wonder if I could make something like that? If amyone of you all out there have made a bed skirt please give me a shout out. I meed all the help I can get.

Sorry I don't remember were I found the photo from. Probably HGTV.

Have a great Friday! Yea!!!!

Spring Tripping
Now that the weather is nice I thought it was high time I got out and about. My first trip was to New Bern.
I have been there several times before but there is always more to uncover. Oh my goodness the flowers were just beautiful!
Oh... by the way New Bern is the birth place of Pepsi Cola. It was called Brad's drink.
It is a very old colonial town. It was founded in 1710 by a man from Switzerland. That is where the name came from, Bern, Switzerland.
The Tryon Palace was the first governors home in North Carolina. Is has been beautifully restored and has beautiful grounds. They have a lovely candle light tour and Christmas time. I posted some pictures of the gardens last summer when I was there with my sister.
This building was built in 1792.

This is St Paul's church built in 1841.

There are lots of alleys ways here. I even ran into a small band playing for a donation in on alley. I'm sorry I didn't get a photo. There's a ghost walk advertised. I think I will have to check that out soon.

So much to see so little time!

Thanks for stopping by. Sorry I have been away for so long.
