I'm back!
Hello everyone. I have been out for a while but I am alive and well. My life gets a little over loaded sometimes and I need to take and break. I'm sure you all can understand. I needed a little me time. Just a Little!
Sometimes it all gets very tiresome always being happy and up lifting for everyone around me. I would just like somebody to ask how I'm feeling. There has got to be more to life than:
Work
Cooking
Cleaning
Laundry
repeat...
Ok, that's enough. I'm a mom and I will carry on. Sorry about that.
Now a cat story....
I've been debating on whether I would introduce our cat or not. I decided that since she is such a big part of our life that I would share her with you all.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Eleanor:
Eleanor came into our lives one dark and rainy summer night. We had an ordinary family with three kids, a dog and a cat. We were fine. We didn't need another animal.
My oldest son was dating a girl that loved to pick up stray animals. So when they found this little cold wet thing they brought it to our house. (I always wondered why she didn't take it to her house.) Well the other kids insisted we keep the poor little wet thing. Within a couple of days it had been named. That was over four years ago. She was a petite thing with long fur. The fur in her ears is really long and her tail is long and fluffy.
Isn't she pretty. Yes I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Look at those eyes. We all think she looks put off. Like she's just annoyed with everything. I think she is annoyed. Or she's just deranged. Ha ha!
One small problem I have with her is that she meow's alot! First she wants in, then she wants out, then she wants out again! The meows get louder and louder! The one thing she wants is more and more food. You would think she would get fat. I don't think she's fat. Can't tell with all that hair. Ha ha! My son and I think she is bulimic. We think she binges on cat food and then goes out to throw up. Sounds weird I know.
I hope you enjoyed meeting Eleanor.
Have a great day.

Oreo Truffles
I found this really good recipe a few days back. I couldn't wait to try them. I thought they looked easy and would be fun to make for Valentines Day.
Leigh Anne at yourhomebasedmom has bunches of wonderful recipes! I have tried several of her recipes. She also has beautiful photos! You must check out her blog. I know you will love it too. Be sure to tell her I sent ya.

I made these for Valentines Day. My kids really liked them and so did my friends at school. Our school policy doesn't allow us to give kids treets unless they are store boutht. So I only shared with my best friends. Ha ha!
I put three in a little cellophane bag and tied it with a red ribbon.

Thanks so much for taking a look. Have a wonderful week.

I made Whoppie Pies!
One day last week my daughter and I were out shopping at Wal-Mart. She had meet me there to pick up some groceries. I drive past Wal-Mart everyday to and from work. No big deal.
We both spied a pan with heart shapes like a cupcake pan. How cute we both say. But what to do with it. I mean I can't just buy a baking pan because it's cute. Well, to our surprise there was a recipe on the back.
Whoopie Pies, cute little heart shaped Whoppie Pies.
Well that is how it started.
None of us here knew what a Whoppie Pie was. Still, the picture was so tempting!
I did Google it and found out that this is a New England and Pennsylvania Amish Tradition. Well not any more!
With Valentines Day approaching I decided that today was the day.
My daughter wanted to help me but you know how teenagers are. Thirty minutes before I started she was out the door.
Ok! Diving into the unknown!

This was an easy recipe. Just a little different from regular cookies. Remember, this is a pie!

Oh, and I didn't use the pan that started all of this. Ha ha silly me. :)

Doesn't this look yummy! The filling is butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and

fluff ( Marshmellow cream).

Oh my goodness! Pause the movie! Stop the music! Pick me up off the floor!

I have never ever had anything like this before! I do feel that I'm some what qualified in the kitchen. But... This is to die for! I feel like I have been sheltered my whole life. Like my eyes have been opened for the first time!

It's like and homemade Hostess Ding Dong.

Well I really should be getting back to my chocolate sugar fix. Hope I don't go into a sugar coma. Ha ha!

Thanks for stopping by.

My Valentine Heart Garland
I found these adorable little hearts all over blog land. I really can't remember where I found them first. Aren't they cute. Well naturally I had to make some. My sisters and some friends will get little hearts in there mail box soon. My daughter helped me pick out scrapbook paper. We found some really cute embellishments at Michael's.
I bought a heart punch also from Michael's. I must have punched out a million.
Then I sewed them all together with one long running stitch. You never break the thread until your finished.
This was lots of fun. I've never sewn paper before.
I mixed them all up.

My daughter made this one for a friend of hers that owns a bicycle shop.

This one is hanging on my mirror above the fire place.

Just a little heart for my family and friends.

Thanks for stopping by.

Homemade Shrinky Dinks
I've been working on a Valentines Day craft for my kids at school. I found a blog site that gave a great tutorial at Crafterella. You can find it here,.crafterella
I started saving #1 plastic at school. The cafeteria serves salads in a plastic container with the perfect lid. It's so funny because the children see me and start bringing me their plastic lids. Ha ha so funny!

Check this one out. Cooper is making one for Maura. Second grade love birds.

I punched holes in them first. Then I sanded one side lightly so that the paint will hold. The kiddos colored them with Sharpies under strict supervision, Ha ha.

In a 350 degree oven for about 1 min and their finished. I put my sons key there so you see how small they are. They shrunk over half their size.

Cute hua.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
